Gentle Driving of Piles (GDP) at a sandy site combining axial and torsional vibrations: Part II - cyclic/dynamic lateral loading tests

چکیده
Gentle Driving of Piles (GDP) is a new technology for the vibratory installation tubular (mono)piles. Its founding principle that both efficient and low noise emission can be achieved by applying to pile combination axial torsional vibrations. Preliminary development demonstration proposed are main objectives GDP research programme. To this end, onshore medium-scale tests in sand have been performed on piles installed using impact driving methods (including GDP). While results presented Tsetas et al. (2023), work focuses post-installation performance GDP-driven under sequence slow/large-amplitude (cyclic) faster/low-amplitude (dynamic) load parcels. The field data point out influence unsaturated soil conditions, which result complex cyclic stiffness trends due interplay pile–soil gapping soil’s fabric changes. small-amplitude vibrations strongly correlated with previous response large cycles, noticeably frequency-dependent cycles period lower than 1 s. Overall, appears satisfactory, encourages further at full scale.

A Survey on Buckling and Vibrations of a Viscoelastic Beam under Distributed Lateral and Axial Loads
In this paper, based on Kelvin and Linear Standard Solid models, dynamic response and the buckling load of a viscoelastic beam under lateral and axial loads have been determined. The governing equations have been extracted using Euler and Timoshenko theories and their analytical solutions have been obtained by using the eigenfunctions expansion method. Buckling load have been calculated by us...
متن کاملevaluation of horizontal displacement of long piles subject to lateral loading in sandy soil
in many structures, the applied lateral loads are comparable with gravity loads. these types of piles which are subject to high lateral load are usually divided into two categories including long and short piles. the general methods to estimate lateral bearing capacity of short and long piles are based on ultimate bearing capacity and allowable horizontal displacement respectively. in the prese...
متن کاملAxial and Torsional Free Vibrations of Elastic Nano-Beams by Stress-Driven Two-Phase Elasticity
Size-dependent longitudinal and torsional vibrations of nano-beams are examined by two-phase mixture integral elasticity. A new and efficient elastodynamic model is conceived by convexly combining the local phase with strain- and stress-driven purely nonlocal phases. The proposed stress-driven nonlocal integral mixture leads to well-posed structural problems for any value of the scale parameter...
متن کاملTorsional Vibrations of Nonhomogeneous
ABSTRACT. This paper is concerned with the torsional vibrations of a nonhomogeneous magnetostrictive elastic cylinder. The cylinder is subjected to the action of a circumferential magnetic field produced by an axial current of constant density and the deformation of a magnetostrictive cylinder is produced by a constant longitudinal magnetic field. The frequency equation is determined, and the d...
متن کاملLateral Load Tests on Small-Diameter Piles for Slope Remediation
Slope reinforcement and the use of structural pile elements can be an effective slope remediation alternative when conventional remediation practices (e.g., improved drainage) fail to consider the causal factors leading to slope instability (e.g., strength loss due to weathering). An experimental research program was aimed at developing a rapid, cost-effective, and simple remediation system tha...
